So, according to the Bible, the Gate to Hell is wide, and the way there is broad. There will be many people who end up in Hell because of sin and disobedience of God's Word.
Jesus spoke of Hell as being Outer Darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. In short, total blackness and total misery. Does that sound like fun?
What About This Lake Of Fire Business???
I know, there are those who say that the Lake of Fire is only symbolism. Oh, and of course there are those who say that there is no such thing as Hell. Sorry, but the Bible is specific about Hell. It is a real Lake of Fire, that burns forever and ever. Those who end up there are tormented forever, with no peace, no rest, no breaks, and no water. FOREVER!
Luke 16:23-25, In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'
"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.
Revelation 14:11, And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name."
Wow! FOREVER! That's a long time. We can't really even comprehend the word FOREVER because our natural lives are so temporary. Our souls; however, are not temporary; and we will spend eternity in one of two places.
So, we know that Hell is dark. We know that it is a real Lake of Fire in which Satan, his angels, and all those who die without Christ will be tormented forever. But you know what? It gets worse...
That's right! It's too late once you get here to repent. You only get that chance in your natural life. There is no way out. There will be no place where you can earn points to get out of Hell. No one else will be able to Pray you out or pay your way out. There is no such thing as Purgatory! This is Final, for all eternity. No Refunds. No Second Chances. This is no movie. This is no fairy tale. It's Hell!
And what's worse? If you don't know Jesus Christ as your personal savior, you are already condemned to Hell. That's right! There's a place reserved for you in this awful place right now. And if you were to die this minute, you would immediately lift up your eyes in Hell, being in torments. Think about that for just a minute. Are you gambling with your soul?
Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
Although you are already considered dead in trespasses and sins, you can be made alive through the Blood of Jesus, which he shed on the Cross at Calvary for the whole world.
Ephesians 2:1, As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
Colossians 1:14, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Now that is the whole Gospel wrapped up in a single verse! We want to show you through scripture that being saved from Hell is very easy. In fact, it's as easy as ABC.
A} Acknowledge that you are lost and condemned to Hell.
Romans 3:10, As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one;
Romans 3:23, For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ezekiel 18:4, For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son-both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die.
Revelation 21:8, But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
B} Believe that Jesus died for your sins, and arose from the dead in victory over death and Hell for you.
John 3:36, Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."
John 3:14-16, Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Acts 10:43, All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."
C} Come to Jesus Christ by Faith, and Confess Him as your Lord and Saviour
Romans 10:9-13, That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Revelation 22:17, The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
This is the only way, my friend, to escape Hell. Remember John 14:6? Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
There is no other way. It is totally, entirely, absolutely by Grace. Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.
You cannot work your way out of Hell. All of your good works are just filthy rags in God's eyes. Only by His Grace can anyone be saved. When you repent of your sins, and trust Jesus as your savior, you become "Born-Again" of God's Spirit. The Holy Spirit will come into your heart and guide you, comfort you, and teach you through God's Word (The Bible). It was Jesus' pure blood shed on Calvary that made this possible. His sinless blood washes away all sin and shame. We can be cleansed and made whole by the blood of Christ.
It is very simple. Just a simple, sincere prayer of faith will do. Something like this:
Dear Jesus, I know I have sinned. I know that I deserve Hell. I also know that you took my place on Calvary. You suffered my death for me. You suffered my Hell for me. Please forgive me of my sins, and come into my heart today. I repent of my sins, and ask you to wash me in your precious blood this moment. Amen.
