Introduction This booklet is written to help clarify many of the Biblical creative concepts found in the Scriptures. The purpose of this booklet is not to convince unbelievers about creation but to enlighten Believers to the entire realm of God’s creative work. Many Believers have loose ends in their understanding of the Scriptures. Because these truths are based on the Word of God and not scientific speculation, they can only be spiritually discerned. Before you can study the Bible or understand its concepts, you must realize that spiritual phenomena cannot be comprehended without spiritual birth and spiritual birth cannot be obtained apart from Salvation. (John 3: 7) Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (1 Cor. 2:14) But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (John 4.24) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Salvation is as simple as accepting what Christ has done. The work has been accomplished, Jesus Christ offers Eternal Life to everyone who will believe in Him. (Acts 16:31)... Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, (John 1:12) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. If there is a desire for greater understanding, God the Holy Spirit can reveal truth to those who avail themselves of His revealing ministry. CREATION Before you react to any of the concepts presented that surround the "Creation of Man", the "Angelic Conflict" and "The Plan of God" please recognize the following standards which are in no way violated. Any understanding of spiritual truth is a result of the revealing ministry of the Holy Spirit and not the wisdom of man. Creation is an act of God that results from God (specifically Jesus Christ as the creator) speaking it into existence. (Not Evolution) Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth Psa 148:5 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created. Colo 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: The six days of Gen. 1 are six literal 24hr days and not long evolutionary periods of time. Gen 1:5-31. . . .And the evening and the morning were the first day. . . . . And the evening and the morning were the second day. . . . . . And the evening and the morning were the third day. . . . . And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. . . . . And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. . . . . And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Angels were created before mankind and before the creation of the universe as testified by God. Job 38:1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said, 4 "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding, 5 Who set its measurements, since you know? Or who stretched the line on it? 6 "On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, 7 When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy? (All the Angels witnessed the creation of the universe and were impressed with the demonstrated splendor) (The fall of Satan or Lucifer had not yet occurred) The Word of God is inspired (God breathed) and is without error in the original autograph. 2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. Exo 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying, 2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. God’s Word as understood through the revealing ministry of the Holy Spirit is the only basis for understanding the Creation of angels, the universe and man. Correct observance of scientific investigation will never conflict with the Word of God. Yet the specific details might not be fully revealed by the Scriptures. Speculation that is in conflict with inspired Scripture is always false. Both overzealous believers and scientific antagonists over step these boundaries. Whatever God does is perfect and is without flaws. Deut 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: . . . 2 Sam 22:31 As for God, his way is perfect; . . . Even Satan was perfect in his original state. Ezek 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Any disorder is not from God. Sin always distorts and destroys. Angels, man, creation and the universe are suffering from the curse of sin. Rom 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. Sin did not originate with man. Ezek 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. The Lake of fire was primarily planned for the Devil and his Demons (fallen angels) and includes man secondarily after God’s plan to deal with the fallen angels and unregenerate man is complete. Mat 25:41b . . . Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Elect Angels know full well that mankind reveals God’s perfect grace toward His created beings and as a result rejoice with everyone that receives God’s plan of Salvation. Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. Angels observe the outworking of man’s response to God’s illustrative plan on earth scrutinized by Satan and all angels.. God is Glorified when believers demonstrate confidence in the Lord’s provision and testing. Job 1:8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? 1Cor 11:10 . . . . because of the angels. 1 Tim 5:21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, . . . 1 Tim 3:16 . . . . God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, . . . . 1 Cor1:9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. God knew the events of history (both in heaven and on earth) before they ever occurred. Neither the rebellion of Satan nor the fall of Adam surprised God. God’s plan for man was not spoiled. With that in mind, we can recognize that man was never anticipated to remain in innocence in the Garden of Eden. We do not know how long the unblemished period lasted for angels or for man. Scriptures are not revealing in this regard. From the beginning, God’s plan anticipated but did not initiate the fall of man. _______________________________________ Before we begin we must Conclude from the previous notes. Scripture Declares the Origin of Creation to be from God (Specifically Jesus Christ) Scripture declares the sequence of creation. First Angels then the Universe and finally Man. All events and timing are part of God’s eternal plan that was foreseen both for Angels and Man. A correct understanding of creation necessitates integrating the facts with God’s plan. Why Was Man Created in the First Place ? The specific details of creation is not near as important as the overall plan of God. Many Believers differ in their understanding of the Scriptures with regard to creation. Yet there should be no doubt that God created everything (Spoke it into existence). God had a reason for man to be created and live on this Earth. Why was man created on earth? This obvious question should surface when we contemplate our surroundings. Why is man seemingly the only visible form of intelligent life in the universe? What was God thinking? If He wanted to fellowship with man, why didn’t He create man in Heaven where we could be with Him? (Oh yeah, Adam messed it up, or did he?) If man was created to glorify God (and he was) how does this appalling state of affairs on earth bring glory to God? Did something go wrong in God’s plan? Was God surprised? What’s it all about, and how is this mess on Earth God’s plan that brings glory and honor to Himself? Why are the Angels so interested in mankind? Why is Satan so threatened by activities on Earth? Ask these questions of most spiritual leaders and they have weak answers at best. (Such as "God’s ways are beyond our understanding" "Farther along we’ll understand why" "It’s God’s way of showing His Love to His creatures" "God is Sovereign and can do whatever He wants") Ask these questions of the Word of God (go to the Scriptures) and you will get answers. Why man, why the Garden of Eden, why the Angelic interest, why the free will of man, why the apparent isolation, why the destructive forces in the universe, why is Satan and his demons still loose after they have been sentenced, how do these events glorify (vindicate) God, and what will be the final outcome? According to Daniel 9:24 . . . . . to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, God will terminate the insurrection by Angels and the rejection of unregenerate man. God in His Grace has provided ample illustration of a Just and Righteous redemption for His fallen creatures. Judgment or Salvation becomes the choice, thus eliminating sin for ever. Angels faced this choice first in an unspecified historical frame of time. Lucifer, Satan, or the Devil originated the uprising with his arrogant intent to be like God. Ezk 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. Ezk 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: . . .ISA 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! . . 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. At some unspecified time in the prehistoric past (prior to mankind), Lucifer rebelled against God and induced one third of the angels to follow him in his presumptuous endeavor. Rev 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, (referring to fallen angels) We know from Matthew that Satan and his demons have already been sentenced for their rebellious activity. Mat 25:41b . . . Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Yet we also know that the devil and his angels still have access to heaven and roam to and fro about the Earth. Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. We can only deduct that God has held off the implementation of the sentence due to an appeal of Satan or for a supplemental exhibit of God’s Just and Righteous character. Either way God has elected to create mankind as a resolution and exposition of the conflict. In a lesser extent man reflects the same choices that angelic creatures made. Thus by allowing the free will of angels and mankind to exist sin can be judged, reconciled and eliminated forever. The arrogance of man and angels can be exposed and the gracious, wise, just and loving God revealed. Parallels between Man and Angels Both are creatures with free will. Both began in perfect circumstances. (Angels in Heaven, Mankind in the Garden of Eden) Both had access to God. (Angels were in Heaven with God, Man walked and talked with God in the Garden of Eden) Both were confronted with a choice and exercised free will. (Mankind and Angels would choose between the authority of God and the contradictory stance of Satan) The sin of angels devastated the universe including the earth (where they existed). The sin of man devastated the earth (where man existed) These falls were separate falls and distinct from each other. Based on their choice, both man and angels will share ultimate isolation in the Lake of Fire or eternal existence with God for eternity. Antithetical relationships between angels and man. Angels were able to make their choice with clear observation of God’s perfect character. Mankind born into the depravity of sin had to make their choice without the overwhelming overt evidence angels were presented. _______________________________________ Questions that must be understood in light of the Scriptures. In Gen. 1:2 And the earth was (Hayah became) without form, and void; (Tohuw Bohuw empty wasteland) and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. hyh Hayah (haw-yaw); Verb, Strong #: 1961to be, become The same exact word in Hebrew that was used to describe Lots’s wife. Gen 19:26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became (Hayah) a pillar of salt. wht Tohuw (to'-hoo); Noun Masculine, Strong #: 8414 formlessness, confusion, unreality, emptiness formlessness (of primeval earth) nothingness, empty space that which is empty wasteland, wilderness (of solitary places) place of chaos whb Bohuw (bo'-hoo); Noun Masculine, Strong #: 922 emptiness, void, waste Would God create a formless and void Earth and then work on it? Certainly not. Even scripture refutes this. Isa. 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else. Why is the Holy Spirit the member of the Godhead that first works on Creation in the six days of Gen. 1. Was His work creation or restoration? Scripture clearly states that Jesus Christ is the creator. Jesus Christ created and the Holy Spirit renewed (repaired or renovated) the earth. John 1:3 "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." ? Psa. 104:30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth. Why is darkness on the face of the deep? Where did the darkness come from? Darkness did not originate with God but is a product of "Satanic Rebellion" It was imposed by God not made by God. A Holy God can not fellowship with sin, hence the absence of light. Rebellious angels are called "rulers of the darkness" In the restoration of the earth, God separated light and darkness but did not remove darkness (angelic conflict still ongoing even in the Garden of Eden). Ultimately in God’s final creation (New Heavens & New Earth) there will be no darkness. We can safely conclude that in the beginning there was no darkness until Lucifer fell. The dark and chaotic earth (formless and void) is a product of catastrophic disorder and rebellion. 1 John 1:5 . . . that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. Jer. 4:23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. 24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. 25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. 26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, . . . Isa.24:1 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. Job 38:9 When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,(grave clothes, God shut it down) Job 38:13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? 14 It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment. 15 And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken. Job 38:30 The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen. God shut the earth down, placed it in ice and withheld light from creation. (turned out the lights on the inappropriate angelic activity). Angelic sin devastated the earth and surrounding universe. In the judgment of the earth darkness is inflicted by God. In Scripture, darkness accompanies judgment during other periods of time. In the plagues of Egypt. Exo. 10:21,22 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days: At the Cross. Mat 27:45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. Mark 15:33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. At the second advent of Christ. Joel 2:10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: Zec 14:6 And it will come about in that day that there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle. Isa 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. Isa 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. Mat. 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: Darkness used to describe incarceration of certain Angels. 2 Pet 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. At Final Judgment. Jesus speaking about the Jews who have rejected the Savior. Mat 8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Is there more than one beginning? A study of God’s Word reveals that God’s creative work is not limited to the "Six Days". God created before the six days and He will create in the future ? Scripture recognizes that there was more than one beginning (creative moments) In Heb 1:10 beginning should have been translated beginnings to comply with the original Greek text. This indicates more than one beginning. (One for angels and another for mankind.) Heb 1:10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning ( avrca,j arche, feminine plural noun) hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: The sequence of events regarding creation can be summarized in the following manner based on various scriptures. God created a perfect heavens and earth. The earth was not in a state of chaos. A catastrophe occurred in the universe which included planet earth. The fall of Satan (Isa. 14:12-17; Ezek.28:11-19) and the angelic conflict which followed turned the original earth into desolation and darkened chaos. This conflict occurred between Gen. 1:1 and Gen. 1:2. Gen. 1:2 And the earth was (Hayah became) without form, and void;(Tohuw Bohuw empty wasteland) and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Jer. 4:23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light .26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, . . . Divine judgment was pronounced against the Satanic rebellion. Mat 25:41b . . . Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: We can only deduct that God has held off the implementation of the sentence due to an appeal of Satan or for a supplemental exhibit of God’s Just and Righteous character. Either way God has elected to create mankind as a resolution and exposition of the conflict. God the Holy Sprit restored the earth. Jesus Christ created man in a perfect environment for the purpose of resolving this conflict. Mankind would have free will. A test would be required to validate this free will and a solution provided to illustrate the Just, Perfect, and Gracious integrity of God. God’s plan would bring a conclusion to the Satanic Rebellion and ultimately glorify Jesus Christ as the Creator, God-Man Savior and Judge of all creation. Mankind that identifies with Jesus Christ in salvation will be elevated above the angels in our association and joint heir-ship in Christ. After Judgment is executed toward fallen angels and fallen man. A new heavens and new earth will be created ushering in everlasting righteousness. The complete Biblical view is the only way that God is given credit for being a Wise and Just God ? The complete Biblical view is the only way to spotlight Satan as the author of sin that has destroyed creation and infected mankind as well as angels. How old is the Earth ? We don’t know. But man has only been around for Approximately six thousand years. (Since the six 24hr days of creation/restoration) God and the angels were in place before creation or the restoration. Correctly understanding the angelic rebellion helps to understand why God created man with free will in a scaled down or limited display that glorifies God (by affirming his Grace and Justice). This exhibit of free will (to agree or disagree with God’s plan and solution) resolves the angelic conflict and condemns both unregenerate man and rebellious angels to eternal separation from God (They want no God, God gives them their wish, they have no part with God).
